When We Engage Through Our Ideas, We Shape Our Buildings
Condition assessment of existing structure is fundamental to guarantee their safety and serviceability. A later repair based on well chosen results will ensure the most economic solution. Therefore the understanding of damage mechanisms and the choice of appropriate testing methods is necessary. This Course starts with the explanation of damage cause and introduces the vast variety of methods – both classical and non-destructive. Strength & limitation of each methods and method combination will be dealt with in real damage cases.
Concepts We Engage
- Damage Mechanism:
- Precondition for corrosion / carbonation induced corrosion / typical damages.
- Testing Methods:
- Classical Methods: Visual Testing / Carbonation Analysis / Chloride Analysis
- Classical NDT-Methods: Rebound Hammer / Concrete Cover Measurement Potential Mapping
- Advanced NDT-Methods: Radar / Ultrasonic’s
- Examples & Strategies: Buildings / Bridges
- Damage Mechanism:
Each student will receive an e-participation certificate with the content he/she will study.
